The store is the supermarket’s latest Greater London store as part of Aldi’s expansion across London.

A statement from Aldi this week read: “Shoppers will benefit from 1,500 product lines at the store, including a range of fresh produce plus a wide range of weekly ‘special buys’. These occur every Thursday and Sunday and offer customers a range of products from gardening products to electrical items.”

Chris Peters, Aldi Store Manager, said: “We’re pleased to be opening our new store in South Ruislip. The team and I are looking forward to meeting our customers on the morning of the opening.”

The store's opening times will be:

Monday – Saturday: 8am – 10pm
Sunday: 10am – 4pm

A new Lidl is also set to open on Victoria Road.

Works have begun nearby at the old Arla site on a major development including a 11-screen cinema, Asda and petrol filling station, which will create over 530 jobs in the area on completion.

Sid Jackson, vice chairman of the South Ruislip Residents Association, said: “I think anything that moves into derelict buildings is positive. If a place looks run down then it becomes more run down, so we need to make it look positive as much as we can.

“But it’s like everything else as there is a negative side to it. There will be increased traffic, increased pollution and increased noise.”

The association recently handed the council a petition to add residents' parking in restricted times on Victoria Road between West Mead and Braintree Road.
