The supermarket confirmed it did hold discussions about a new shop within the forecourt but had opted not to move forward with the idea.
Shell, meanwhile, revealed that it will not reopen until the end of September, having shut in the middle of July. The forecourt is cordoned off with metal fencing as construction work takes place.
Shell is one of three petrol stations in Ickenham within one kilometre. The company formerly occupied the smaller forecourt, where BP is now situated.
In a statement, Waitrose told Hillingdon is Here:“We did have discussions about opening a little Waitrose forecourt shop at the Shell in Ickenham, but this isn't an opportunity we are progressing.”

In a statement, Shell told Hillingdon is Here: “Shell Ickenham, Ickenham High Road, will be closed until late September for renovation works to be carried out.
“The works include the replacement of underground pipes and more modern fuel pumps, this involves the digging up the forecourt and replacing with a new concrete forecourt.
“We apologise for the temporary inconvenience and look forward to welcoming our customers when the service station reopens.”
Hillingdon is Here asked if there would be new services or a new mini supermarket but Shell offered no details on this.
