Organisers described in a statement what people attending could expect: “Visitors, young and old, will have plenty of opportunities to take to the water and explore the Grand Union Canal and all it offers.
“Canoes and stand-up paddle boards will cater for those with a sense of adventure while free trips boats will allow others to just sit back and relax as they cruise slowly along the waterway.
“There will also be a chance to discover what lies beneath the water with free fishing taster sessions.
“Any child attending on the day can sign up for a free fishing kit. You will also be able to see some of the fish that live in the canal in the ‘Living Fish Tank’.
“Shore-based there will be lots to keep children entertained including face-painting, balloon modelling, swing-boats, flip-a-frog, hook-a-duck, henna painting, paper-craft, circus skills, canal towpath walks plus stalls and displays.

The Canal and River Trust is running the event with support from Hillingdon Canal Partnership, Thames 21, IWA Middlesex Branch, the Metropolitan Police, High Point Plaza and Hillingdon Community Trust.
A schools education project linked to the festival is being supported by Botwell & Townfield Ward Councillors via their ward budgets.
Organisers are hoping to find volunteers to help with these tasks:
· Information stall – to deal with queries from the public and direct people to the right part of the site.
· Boat trip operation – to manage the booking system for the boat trips and liaise with the trip boat operators
· Operational Team – to assist exhibitors unloading/loading their cars and with stall/gazebo set up.
· Games – to set up and manage 3 children’s activities on the day.
· Visitor Surveys - to engage with those attending and get feedback about the event.
