A pub near Hillingdon Underground station has undergone a £229,000 makeover.

The Swallow on Long Lane has been fully refurbished, inside and out, by pub company Punch, as part of a scheme that has also created 15 new jobs in the area.

Inside, it has been redecorated throughout, with new flooring, new bar fittings, a small kitchen area and improvements to the toilets, the company said, while there are new signs outside and the front patio area has been upgraded with new furniture.

Publican Andy Kehoe, who has run The Swallow with the help of his daughters, Sinead and Lisa, since November last year, said: “We have a great location here, close to Hillingdon Station, which means we are always busy. Up until now I’ve only been able to serve drinks so it will be great to be able to offer food as well.”

The pub is still offering customers big screen sporting action from Sky and BT as well as regular live entertainment at weekends.

Charlie Carroll, senior publican development and training manager for Punch, said: “This investment has given The Swallow a fantastic new look and significantly improved the facilities without detracting from its unique character.

“Customers can expect a warm welcome, a good choice of quality food and drink and great service from Andy and his team whatever time of day they call in.”
