A grey Toyota Yaris was photographed with a severely crumpled bonnet and front end, squashed against the store front, and also had damage at the back.
The accident led to long delays for motorists and sparked inevitable jokes on social media around the company's famous slogan: 'Should have gone to Specsavers'. One Twitter user, who posted the photo below, suggested it had been an advert for the eye-wear comapny.
Police were called at 7.31am. Officials said no arrests have been made and added: "The single female driver of the car - believed to be aged in her sixties - was not seriously injured."
Store bosses pledged to re-open it as soon as it is safe.

Specsavers Ruislip store director Jagmohn Laehri told Hillingdon is Here: “The Ruislip store is currently closed following a road traffic accident on Thursday morning causing damage to the front of the premises.
“Investigations into the extent of the damage are ongoing.
He said: “Our focus is on minimising disruption to customers and we will reopen the store as soon is it is safe to do so.
“Meanwhile we are rebooking appointments and making alternative arrangements for glasses collections. Anyone with any queries should call the store.”
