Borough, who finished third in Division Two last season, in only their first campaign ever, started the brighter of the two sides, forcing Hares keeper Jacob Ballheimer to tip a well taken free kick over the bar in the tenth minute. Pictures and video below.
Ballheimer went on to make a series of excellent saves in the first half, including a point blank reflex save on fifteen minutes.
The referee waved away a Harefield penalty appeal in the thirty second minute after failing to spot a stranglehold on Hares number ten Adam Willis. The Hares began to rally after that point and went in at halftime with the score still nil all.
United started the second half the stronger team, with centre forward Aaron McLeish failing to take advantage of a couple of chances.
On fifty nine minutes new signing Tash Jordan won a penalty for the away side after being fouled in the six yard box. He took the spot kick himself, blasting it straight at the Enfield keeper and put away the rebound after a goalmouth scramble.

With the Hares now one nil up, Borough attacked and six minutes later forced Ballheimer to pull off another great save for it to rebound to Enfield's Richard Ennin who calmly tucked the ball away to equalise.
With their tails up Enfield kept making the Hares defend deeply and on seventy two minutes Jamiah Lawrence Plentie struck Enfield's second goal from distance.
Three minutes later Hares' manager Jason Shaw made a double substitution, with forward Joe Willis replacing his older brother Adam and bringing on the pacy Jason Richards for midfielder Luke Baldwin.
The away side attacked relentlessly, in the seventy eighth minutes Shaw played his last card, replacing the impressive Darrell Harris with the fit again Lee Clark.
The Hares threw everyone forward and two minutes into time added on substitute Jason Richards made the Enfield keeper pull off a finger tip save.
United failed to take advantage of the resultant corner and their last chance of the game was from a Lee Clark free kick which was cleared by the strong Enfield defence.
Harefield are at home to Buckingham Athletic next Saturday, hoping to get some points on the board.
